OH hey, vacay!

Vacation hair!

Some tips to make sure you spend more time playing and less time primping.

Spring break is just around the corner and I don’t know about the rest of you but the last thing I want to do on my precious vacation time is spend an hour in the hotel bathroom doing my hair. That being said, the following advice will differ based on the length of your trip and the setting.

Keyword of this post is LONGEVITY… meaning, how long can you stretch that blow out? I’m aiming for 3 days per shampoo style. yes, you sure can…

Day one: shampoo at home and style before heading out on the road or plane. Start your trip with fabulous hair and try not to use too many root boosting products because they tend to make your hair feel dirtier faster. Save the products for day two. I personally recommend doing a soft curl on day one so that day two is a breeze.

Day two: Hopefully you remembered to bring your satin pillowcase with you so that your hair won’t get too tousled in your sleep. Your hair should be relatively ready to go with the exception of some dry shampoo if needed followed up with a few touch ups from the curling iron.

Day three: You may be able to go a third day with curling and dry shampoo but if you are in a warmer climate or your hair is more oil naturally then this is the day i recommend getting creative. I seriously live for braids… Like, I love me some low pig tail braids with a few loose strands around the face with just a slight curl to them. As long as you keep it low and loose, you won’t look like a 9 year old little girl.

Also, the half up half down top knot is super cute too. the idea for vacation hair is to keep it simple but trendy. Youtube one of your favorite beauty bloggers on quick braids or half up styles for inspiration, or better yet, bring up this topic at your next hair appointment and I would LOVE to give you some quick tips in real life.

Day four: Go ahead and shampoo, rinse, and yes…repeat. So, yeah travel size bottles are hard to find in a lot of your favorite brands however, color wow does have your back with their shampoo and conditioner minis. I have these in stock and hopefully will be able to keep a steady supply of them. Otherwise, you can always get your own refillable bottles at well, pretty much anywhere. Bring the products you are familiar with.. seriously, try to control the environment as much as possible when traveling because different climates are already going to make this a new challenge when it comes to styling your hair. If you are a person who travels a lot, I recommend investing in a good mini flat iron and learning how to do some waves, curls and straighten to get the best bang for your buck.

The main theme here is to do as little as possible so that you can spend your time with family, friends…your dog…whomever you decide to hang with while retreating from your every day life… oh and one last piece of advice… If you are going to the beach and plan on getting your hair wet every single day…. pleeeeeease bring a leave in conditioner and use liberally… and bonus points if you get your hair wet with clean water before getting into any chlorine so that your hair will soak up less of the bad stuff and then DO NOT let that chlorine set in your hair overnight.

Most of all, have fun making memories and say yes to adventure, but come back and get your hair done between trips hahaha.
