Nuggets of wisdom

For nearly 20 years, I have had the greatest blessing of working hands on with countless women behind the chair. In that time I have been able to absorb only a fraction of the advice and wisdom given from a collective of various experiences.

I would like to share a few with you.

  1. Your children will only be little for a short period of time. Yes, I know that is not ground breaking news but what i have gathered is this….. Hug them. Let them sleep in your bed (occassionally and when age appropriate of course) and play with them. But remember that while they are little, they will still listen to you…kind of… advise them during this time. Have big conversations while they still think you hung the moon, because soon…..you will know nothing and they will know everything *insert eyeroll here

  2. Memories don’t just happen, you make them. Create moments that will be cherished in your life long after the event is over. It doesn’t have to be big, just special. For instance, my children and I make ressurection rolls for breakfast on Easter Sunday…. every year. My client/dear friend shared this recipe and now its tradition. If you have never made them, I highly recommend them…. easy, delicious and a great message for Easter with children.

  3. Marriage. Is. Hard. duhhhhhhhh am I right? but I have gotten to walk throught the struggles with my guests while they went through counseling, reconsiliation and sometimes divorce. I have learned that absolutely no one is perfect and we all make kinda crappy spouses, but the ones last and find true happiness in marriage (abuse not included of course) are the ones that love the marriage sometimes more than the actual person they are married to. Sometime, we have to value our committment to each other even when the happy feelings are hard to muster.

Ok, thats my top three. If you have been in my chair long enough you have probably already heard me talk about one or all of these. If you want more replayed wisdom from the vast pool of women that grace my chair, comment and let me know.

P.S. Hug your Grandmas and listen to their old stories one more time. (that ones straight from me)
